Leon M. Bartlett, 84, of Taberg, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his daughters home in Elba, AL. He was born July 9, 1933, the son of the late Paul and Margaret Fox Bartlett. On May 1, 1965 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Pool.
Leon was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army as an MP from 1953-1955.
He owned and operated Standard Carbide Die Co. in Westdale before going to work for the New York State Department of Grounds and Maintenance.
He was a member of Philanthropic Lodge #164 F. & A.M. in Camden.
Surviving besides his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy, are: three daughters, Lorraine Buckingham of Taberg, Peggy Lee Farley of Arizona and Mary Jane (Timothy) Wiggins of Alabama; four sons, Larry (Donna) Bartlett of Camden, Leon “Chip” (Wendy) Bartlett of Taberg, Frank (Kim) Bartlett of Massena and Randy Bartlett of Westdale; a brother, Larry (Rena) Bartlett of Osceola; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Arlene Swetland, Pauline Lewis and Sharon Contril; two brothers, Elton and Kenneth Bartlett; a grandson, Joshua Bartlett; and a son-in-law, David Buckingham.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 15th, at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden, from 4-6:00PM. Graveside services in Westdale Cemetery with Military Honors will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Leon’s memory maybe made to the Philanthropic Lodge #164 F. & A. M. or the Disabled American Veterans.
