Leonard W. Parker, 76, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Born in Rome on September 5, 1943, he was a son of the late Leonard and Margaret Irene (Robinson) Parker. He was a 1961 graduate of Rome Free Academy and served his country in the US Air Force from 1962-1966. He earned a degree in nursing from Marcy School of Nursing in 1971 and became a registered nurse. On August 8, 1970, he was united in marriage to Betty Joanna Flick. She passed away July 16, 2010. Len had a long career serving Rome Memorial Hospital and Oneida Hospital. In retirement he continued work in local extended care facilities. He loved fishing and science fiction novels. He cared deeply for his family and traveled the country to visit them. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth (Matthew) Roland; a son, Jeffrey (Kristene) Parker; two sisters, Winifred (Ronald) Perkosky and Margaret Fortney; two brothers, Frederick and Thomas Parker; five grandchildren, Amara, Alexa, Ian, Colin and Evan; and several nieces and nephews.
