Obituary of Stanley Lawrence

Stanley J. Lawrence, 75, of Camden, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 1, 1941 in Rome, the son of the late Stanley and Margaret Drobnica Lawrence. Stan graduated from Camden High School in 1962 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. After being honorably discharged in1966, he came back to the area and married Carol Blake on June 28, 1969. She passed away on March 15, 2011.

Stan worked for many years at Camden Wire Co.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Taberg.

Stan was active in several clubs and organizations throughout the area. He was a life member and Past Commander of the Meeker-O'Rourke Post 1309 American Legion in Taberg and life member and Past Commander of VFW Post 6530 in Camden. He was also a member of the Taberg Volunteer Fire Department, Pine Grove Horsehoe Club, Camden IOOB, Marine Corps League, Old Crows/Outlaws, Durhamville Veterans Club, Stanwix Veterans and Men's Club, the Frank J. Steczko Post, and Fritz's Polka Band Fan Club.

He is survived by a sister, Phyllis Tagliere of Taberg; a brother, Thomas (Ewa) Lawrence of Utica; and a nephew, Derek Tagliere.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00am at St. Patrick's Church in Taberg. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4-7:00pm at Nunn and Harper Funeral, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stan's memory may be made to Feed Our Vets, 195-205 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502.
