Obituary of Annely DiGiovanni

Annely B. DiGiovanni, 90, of Rome, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Colonial Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born on February 6, 1928, in Lohr, Germany. During the liberation of her hometown by the Allied Forces during World War II she met the love of her life, Maj. Joseph DiGiovanni. They were married in New Hyde Park, NY, on October 25, 1947. He passed away on June 7, 1970.

Annely worked for many years at Stokes Elementary School.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a longtime volunteer for the Rome TWIGS.

Annely is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph and Elaine DiGiovanni of Laurel, MD, and Michael DiGiovanni of Rome; a brother, Heinz Beutel of Germany; one grandson, Robert; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Hanna Riedmann.

Annely's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her amazing caregivers: Mr. Mrs. Ron Scales, Marcia Kotary, Debbie Box, Irmgard Madonia, Paige McAllister, Patty Ott; the staff at Colonial Park; and especially Julie Carter and Dawn Wells, for all their wonderful care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00AM at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7:00PM.
