Obituary of Anne C. Schuler

Anne Carr Schuler 78 of Boyd Rd., Taberg passed away on Saturday August 3, 2019 after a brief illness. Anne was born March 8, 1941 in Hartford, CT. Daughter of Norbert J. Carr and Marjorie Lawson Himes Carr. She married Edward P. (Eddie) Schuler at St. Mary’s Church in Rome NY on August 29, 1959. Edward was the son of Philip and Dorothy Bailey Schuler of Rome NY. Eddie passed October 14, 2010. Together Anne and Eddie have two sons: Edward J. Schuler who passed February 25, 2002, and Christopher M. Schuler and his companion Julie Adams of Fort Lee NJ. She has 4 grandchildren Amanda (Jack) Hill, Shannon Schuler (Adam Hance) of Boonville NY, Kimberly (Guy) Migneault of Stittville NY, and Andrew (Ashley) Schuler of West Leyden NY, and 9 Great Grandchildren Isabelle, Evelyn, Victoria, Micheal, James, Faith, Delany, Tucker, and Tessalyn.

Anne is also survived by her sisters Patricia (Marjorie) of Los Angeles, CA, Geraldine LaHew of Katy TX, Kathleen Carr of Utica, Rosemary Stigleman of Rome, and one brother Michael Carr of Yellow Springs OH, and many nieces and nephews.

Anne was active in local politics having served as Councilwoman on the Annsville Town Board for 8 years (1978-1987) and ran for NY State Senate in 1998. She served as the Annsville Democratic Committee Chairwoman from 1992-2017, and formerly on the Oneida County Democratic Executive Committee. She also served as Vice-Chairwoman for the Oneida County Association of Towns from 1986-87. She was appointed by the speaker of the NYS Assembly on August 29, 1985 to serve as a commissioner on the NYS Tug Hill Commission as secretary.

Anne was active in the Town of Annville serving as Director of Recreation of for 10 years, and represented the town of on the Annsville Planning Board, Oneida County, Environmental Management Council and NYS Division of Youth, Annsville Camp. In 1983 she founded the Annsville historical Society and served as its president from 1983-1987. In 1998 she served as Chairwoman of the Town’s 175th Centennial Committee. She worked as Director of Recreation at Delta Lake State Park and for many years as a substitute teacher for the Camden School District. She also served as a Marketing Representative at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, Verona, NY.

Anne was an artist who won awards in many area shows and is a past President of the Rome Art Association. She studied art at the Munson Proctor Institute, Utica with Ralph Murray, watercolorist. She held a BA in English from Utica College and a MBA from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Oratory, 210 W. Liberty St.  Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Thursday, August 8th, from 4-7:00 p.m.
