Obituary of Rosemary A. Vaughn
Peacefully, on April 11, 2020, Rosemary A. Vaughn passed away at the age of 99 at The Grand Nursing Home. Rosemary was born in Rome, NY, on November 26, 1920, and remained a lifelong resident of the area. She was the daughter of the late John and Gelsomino Scalzo Yano and the former wife of William (Curly) Vaughn. She worked at the Rome Home, and later, retired from the Rome Hospital, where she started her career in the kitchen and worked her way up to the lab. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, watching Family Feud, General Hospital, and World News Tonight with David Muir. She was fiercely independent, and spent many years caring for others. She always had a hot cooked, delicious meal waiting for anyone who walked in her door. In her earlier years, she took pride in being able to take her children to as many places as possible while working three jobs. She will be remembered for her spunk, her honest straight talk, and her loving heart. Surviving are a daughter, Marlene, of Camden, NY, a son, John P. Vaughn, daughter-in-law, Joanne, of Saylorsburg, PA, a nephew, John Yano, of Rome, NY, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank, Sam, Joseph, Paul, and Leonard Yano. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
