Mary Jeanne “Beannie” Ellinger, 96, of Rome, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility. Born in Rome on December 14, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Ann (Callahan) Finster. She was a graduate of the Academy of Holy Names and Rochester Institute of Technology. On June 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to Albert “Bud” Ellinger, a blessed union of 54 years. Bud passed away in 2003. Jeanne was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Rome and St. Mary’s of the Lake in Verona Beach. While living in Rome, Beannie was a member of Rome Twigs, Rome Art and Community Center, Ava Dorfman Senior Center and Crafty Ladies of Sylvan Beach. She also served as a Life Guard at Camp Nazareth. While living in Memphis, TN, she was a founding member of the Memphis/Germantown Art League. As an accomplished artist, Beannie and her husband Bud started their own business displaying and selling many of her paintings, which always came from her heart. What a tremendous legacy she leaves behind as many of her paintings are enjoyed throughout the United States. Beannie was full of fun and had an amazing positive attitude and adventurous spirit which lead to her many travels. She loved life and always lit up a room when she entered! One of her greatest joys was spending time at the camp built by her dad on Oneida Lake with family and friends sharing stories, songs and Coors Light! She was one in a million and will be greatly missed, her example of how to live life and her spirit will always remain with us . Jeanne is survived by her loving daughter, Martha Ellinger; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ellinger Mumpton; two cherished granddaughters, Rebecca (Peter) Patel and Sarah Martini; four great-grandchildren, Trey, Ryan, Andrew and Anna Grace; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Albert “Buddy” Ellinger; and two sisters, Phyllis McMahon and Lois Finley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Verona Beach at a later date.
