Obituary of Barry L. Cummings

Barry L. Cummings, 73, of Lee Center, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 30, 2020. He was born on November 30, 1946, in Cayuga, NY, a son of the late Glenn and Laura (Jones) Cummings. After graduating from Union Springs High School and SUNY-Delhi, Barry joined the Watertown Police Department in 1974. He spent the next 20 years with the department working with CID on Fort Drum and retiring as a detective in 1994. He served in the US Naval Reserves. On November 30, 1981, he was united in marriage to Penny Moyer. Barry worked part-time for Gray’s Flowers making deliveries and helping around the shop until he joined the Oneida Indian Nation Police Department in 1998. He continued working there until retiring again in 2007. Barry was an avid sportsman and gun collector. He loved to hunt, especially looked forward to deer season. He was a member of the Camden Rod and Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. Surviving besides his loving wife, Penny, is a daughter, Brooke Parmalee; three sons, Christopher and Timothy Cummings and Adrian Rich; two grandchildren, Adyn and Whitney; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and William. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
