Obituary of Robert M. Chabot

Robert M. “Bob” Chabot, 83, of 21st Ave, Sylvan Beach, passed away Wednesday evening, October 20, 2021, at Oneida Health ECF where he had been a resident since December 5, 2019. He was born on April 15, 1938, in Rome, the son of Robert G. and Helen Potocki Chabot. Bob was a 1956 graduate of St. Aloysious Academy and went to receive his associate’s degree from MVCC. Bob proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard from 1956-1962. On September 30, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Marianne Iseneker in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Rome. Bob was a salesman for GMAC for thirty-five years, retiring in 1995. Bob was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Verona Beach. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Elks in Rome and later Camillus. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Oneida Lake Association where he served on the Board of Directors for over twenty years. He also enjoyed hunting. The greatest joy in his life were his grandchildren. He would try to make every event in his grandchildren’s lives. Surviving besides his loving wife of sixty-years, Marianne; are two children, Mark (Cherie) Chabot, of Canastota, and Denise Hsu Chabot, of Glendale, AZ; four grandchildren, Rhilea, Olivia, Samuel, and Benjamin; his brother, Gary (Marcia) Chabot, of Williamsville; and several nieces and nephews. Bob’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the Oneida Health ECF staff, especially Amanda, for the kindness and compassion shown to him. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Lake Church, Verona Beach, where the Rev. Christopher Ballard will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rome. There are no calling hours.
