Obituary of Mildred Rose Fletcher

Mildred Rose Fletcher of Rome, passed away peacefully at Bethany Gardens on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. She was born in Marcy on December 8, 1922, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Frances (Maneen) Pianella. On August 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles Fletcher. He passed away June 6, 1996.

Millie worked at the Marcy Psychiatric Center for 35 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Ladies of Auxiliary of the Rome VFW Post 2246 where she was a life member. She was also a member of the Ava Dorfman Senior Center and Henry P. Smith Post 24.

Millie is survived by a daughter, Gail Fletcher; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Fletcher; a brother, Thomas Pianella; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Therese Hanna. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Fletcher; and four sisters and four brothers.

Millie’s family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Gardens for their wonderful care and compassion during her time there.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11^th at 11:00 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Townsend Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday, July 10^th from 2-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Millie’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
