Obituary of Virginia H. Baldwin
Virginia Hungerford Baldwin entered the presence of God on July 12, 2022. Her 98 years were a gift to the many that called her friend. She leaves behind a life lived to the glory of God and to the service of her four children, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Born in Mecklenburg, NY and raised in Interlaken, NY, Virginia completed nursing school and married George P. Baldwin of Ithaca, NY. George died suddenly in 1960, leaving Virginia alone to raise four young children, working as a public health nurse for Seneca County and later for the State of New York.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Interlaken and recalled how grateful she was for the influence of Christian friends in the church in the raising of her children.
Virginia was always quick with a smile and ready to strike up a conversation with whomever happened to be near, sometimes to the embarrassment of her children. So many people through the years recounted how welcome she made them feel.
Virginia has now joined her loving husband George and her grandson Caleb Baldwin in a place where death reigns no more. Soli Deo Gloria.
A graveside service at Lakeview Cemetery in Interlaken will be held at the convenience of the family
Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome .
