
Obituary of Deborah J. Paquette
Deborah J. Paquette, 71, of Rome, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at MVHS-St. Luke’s in New Hartford. Born in Utica on February 15, 1951, a daughter of the late Jewel and Theresa (Rodriguez) Smith. On September 29, 2001, she was united in marriage to Gregory Paquette. He passed away February 8, 2014. She loved her husband very much and they did many things together.
Deborah worked at Marcy Psychiatric Center for 35 years before retiring. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Rosewood Twigs and Red Hat Society.
Deborah loved cooking, baking, cake decorating, catering and playing cards. She was loved by her family and friends.
Deborah is survived by two sisters, Linda Iannotti (Randy) and Candance Westcott (Eric Sr.); a brother, James Smith (Cathy); two step-children, Gregory Paquette (Lynda) and Jill Sobolewski (Matt), and their children, Sarah and Adam; nieces and nephews, Jarett, Matthew and Patrick Iannotti, Todd (Sabrina), Eric Jr. and Justin Westcott (Heather), and Joshua (Kelly) and Cristin (Rainer) Smith; several great-nieces and great-nephews; her dear friend, Barbara McCaffrey; and her dog, Sophie. She was predeceased by a nephew, Nicholas Iannotti, who always called her his ”second mom.”
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, October 14th from 4-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Deborah’s memory to the Anita’s Steven Swan Humane Society or the Rome Rescue Mission.
