
Obituary of James E. Kelley
James E. Kelley, 87, of Camden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 16, 2023. Born in Florence on January 15, 1936, he was a son of the late Erwin and Doris (Yager) Kelley. He was a graduate of Camden High School and on January 16, 1960, he was united in marriage to Doris Granger, a blessed union of 63 years.
Jim owned and operated Kelley Farm in Camden and was a bus driver for the Camden Central School District.
He was a communicant at St. John’s Church in Camden. He was an avid sports fan and loved attending his children and grandchildren’s games throughout the years.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Doris, are three daughters, Bindy Kelley, Denise Vaile and Laurie Kelley (Dennis Alberico); three sons, Steven Kelley (Colleen), Jeffrey Kelley and Michael Kelley (Lisa); two brothers, Ronald Kelley (Carol) and Leo Kelley (Linda); thirteen grandchildren, Brice Kelley (Maci), Corey Kelley (Danielle), Sean Kelley (Kim), Brian Kelley (Marissa), Hayley Musachio (JP), Cary Vaile, Dustin Vaile (Kaylee), Derek Vaile, Kevin Mitchell (Jennifer), Kyle Mitchell (Lacee), Korryn Alberico, Mikayla Kelley (Jarid) and Peyton Kelley; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jeannette Britton; and a brother, William Kelley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 35 Church St., Camden, NY 13316. Private interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Florence at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden NY 13316, on Sunday, October 22nd from 4-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s memory to the Camden High School Sports booster program of your choice.
