Obituary of David J. O'Brien

David J. O’Brien, 69, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Oneida Health. He was born in Rome on January 30, 1954, a son of the late John and Wilma (Swarthout) O’Brien. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and on July 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Weber.

David was a Ward Clerk on 2E at Rome Hospital for 30 years. He loved to fish for walleye on Oneida Lake and was big fan of the NY Yankees and Giants.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Betty Jean, is a daughter, Ashley Vinci (AJ); two sons, David O’Brien (Jessica) and Justin O’Brien; two sisters, Lynn Martin and Jan Amicci; two brothers, Steven and Thomas O’Brien; three grandchildren, Anthony and Addyson Vinci and Blake O’Brien; his two Yorkies, Fawn Bella and Little Bitty Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Drew; and three brothers, Clifford, John and Bruce.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc, 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440.
