Obituary of Bruce F. Neidl

Bruce F. Neidl, 80, of Rome, passed away on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, 2023 with his loving family by his side at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Born in Rome on February 2, 1943, he was a son of the late George and Rosemary (Joynt) Neidl. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy and on July 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Anne E. Besenfelder. She passed away December 25, 2022.

On April 26, 1962, Bruce enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years aboard the USS Yorktown during the Vietnam War. After being Honorably Discharged, he returned to Rome and started a long career at Revere Copper and Brass Co.

Bruce was a member of St. Peter’s Church and the Rome VFW. He was an avid gardener and looked after his lawn very meticulously. He was active in his grandchildren’s lives and loved spending time with them above anything else.

Bruce is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Neidl; three sons, Michael Neidl, Scott Neidl (Emy) and Richard Neidl (Meghan); two sisters, Carol Ann Stagner (Gerald) and Judy Ripka (Joseph); twelve beloved grandchildren, Scott, twins Bobbie and Billie, Samantha, Theodore, Joshua, Michael, Julia, Arabella, Alex, Harper and Ellie; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Neidl.

Bruce’s family would like to thank the staffs at Rome Health 2 North and Betsy Ross for their wonderful care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St., Rome NY 13440. There are no calling hours.
